August 14, 2026
HARRISBURG – Rep. George H. Margetas (R-York) announced today that multiple schools across the 196th District received grant funding from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s (PCCD) School Safety and Security Committee (SSSC). This funding is meant to be used for school safety and mental health.
School safety and mental health grants are open to public school entities, including school districts, career and technical schools/centers, intermediate units, and charter schools. Funds will advance the SSCS’s goal of ensuring that all Pennsylvania students can learn in safe, healthy school environments by helping school entities address basic safety and mental health needs.
The following school districts received funding:
- Dover Area School District was awarded $244,998.
- Spring Grove Area School District was awarded $273,630.
- West York Area School District was awarded $231,147.
“As a former school board member, I know how important the safety of our school buildings is and how important the mental health of our students is,” said Margetas. “These grants will help the three school districts that are located in the 196th improve to the betterment of our students and make sure our schools are the best places for them to learn.”
