About George
Rep. George Margetas is serving his first term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as the representative for the 196th District in York County.
George is a lifelong resident of York County, growing up in the Dover/West York area as the son of Greek immigrants. He attended West York High School and helped his family run their small businesses when not in school.
After graduating from Dickinson College and Thomas M. Colley School of Law, George continued to support his family’s businesses, while starting his own law firm in West Manchester Township. He currently resides in West Manchester.
George always felt a calling to serve. He was a member of the West York School Board from 2011-23 and served as a West Manchester Township supervisor from 2023-26. In his roles as a school board member and township supervisor, George saw the challenges that policies in Harrisburg can create for local governments and school districts, which drove him to run for state representative.
He will be sworn in to office on June 9, 2026.
